Clean Kingsize Sheet

Ledley King is looking at shutting Newcastle United out on Sunday and making it Tottenham's 10th clean sheet of the season.

Spurs have so far stopped Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal from finding the net this season and as King tells the clubs official website, its easier to stop the goals than it is to score them.

"As a defender you want to keep clean sheets and we've done well this season," reflected Ledley, a key player in that record. "We've not conceded many goals at home and we know if we keep a clean sheet we'll have a great chance of winning.

"With the players we have, we're always going to create chances and that was the case against West Ham.

"In the first half it was a little too open, they looked dangerous on the counter and that was their best chance of scoring, so we had to tighten up in the second half.

"We did that and we've top quality forwards who we know can always score goals.

"Roman came off the bench to score the winner and that shows the depth of strength in the squad. Jermain (Defoe) is close to coming back as well, so it's looking good."

"We're taking it one game at a time, we're in good form, playing well and we have to keep it going until the end of the season," he added.

"The fans have helped us make it a fortress here but Newcastle are fighting for their lives, so we expect another tough game."

Keeping the Kuyt flying

Dirk Kuyt claims that Liverpool's thrilling 4-4 draw with Chelsea on Tuesday is just the thing to keep the Reds flying and to take them above Manchester United in the Premier League.

The Dutchman hopes that they can take something out of the Chelsea game and build on it as they look to take the title back to Anfield for the first time in 19 years.

"We're very disappointed but there are a lot of positives to take from the game," the Dutch forward told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"We showed a lot of character and this team proved that we never give up and fight until the end.

"That's what we did against Chelsea and that's what we're going to do in the league. Hopefully we can bounce back in the league and if Manchester United struggle they know we will be there.

"It's not over yet. We have some games left and we'll make sure we're ready for Arsenal next week. There is more to come and hopefully we can win the league. We will be giving everything to try and do so."

Dirk's 82nd minute header flashed a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel but it was Lampard's goal that put finally put the Reds to Bed and left them feeling bitterly disappointed.

"We had a lot of belief at 4-3 with ten minutes to go, but unfortunately it didn't happen," added our number 18.

"It was an amazing night, but obviously we are very disappointed because we were so close to getting to the next round.

"If you looked in the eyes of players you could see we all believed we could do it.

"In the end we needed a little bit more luck but we can be proud of the effort we put in on the night."

"It is hard to take, but I think we have to be happy and proud with the performance of the team," said the Spain midfielder.

"I have a mixture of feelings. I am disappointed we haven't gone through, but proud we kept fighting until the end.

"Now have to think about the Premier League. There is still much to play for and if we can continue to play as we did against Blackburn and Chelsea, we will try to make things difficult for United."

Grella's targets Stoke

Blackburn's Vince Grella is looking forward to putting his injury plagued season behind him as he targets Stoke for his return to the first team.

The Aussie who signed for Rover's way back in August has spent more time on the treatment table than he has on the pitch and with the end of season looming, its Grella's season thats just about to start, and as he describes to the clubs official website, this definately hasn't been one of his best.

"It has been one of those seasons where every time I seem to get started I'm having to start all over again," said Grella to Rovers World.

"But I'm feeling good, I'm positive and hopefully I'll be ready for the game against Stoke and be up for selection and give the manager another option.

"I'm looking forward to it and I hope to put my hand up when called upon."

With six games to go in the season, Grella hopes to see out the campaign injury free and then put in the hard work necessary to start next season in top shape.

"It has been frustrating but I've got to be positive," added Grella. "Things happen in football and it is part of the profession. I think in pre-season I need to sort that physical problem out, but I still have six games where I want to give my contribution, whether it is big or small, to Blackburn.

"I always have a small debt to repay and I think in these games I will still show what I am about.

O'Neill to God

Martin O'Neill will be looking to the gods for some kind of miracle if Aston Villa are to beat Arsenal into forth place this season.

Time is running out for the Irishman's side who face West Ham this weekend and with the Hammer's chasing a European place themselves, its a match that means alot to both O'Neill and Zola.

And as O'Neill tells AUTV its about getting back to winning ways and turning performances into victories.

"We have six games left and it's going to be a tall order [to achieve a Champions League place].

"For us to have any chance, we can't slip up now. It would certainly make it interesting if we went on an extended run. It's up to us now. We need to turn our impressive performances into victories.

"Points are so difficult to come by in this Barclays Premier League. You go along merrily when you have won a few games and you think life is rosy and terrific. You think that winning is just an easy habit forming.

"And then you stutter and you can't get back on track for a while. You lose games you feel you should have got something out of. And it's hard to turn that around.

"It's then about getting back to winning ways.

"For us, these six games are so vital. The importance of three points just cannot be underestimated.

"Psychologically, the difference between drawing and winning a game will be like night and day."
